Letter to Parents/Carers Sept 16th
Posted on by websupport@prestatynhigh.co.uk
Annwyl Rhieni / Gwarcheidwiaid / Dear Parents / Carers,
Croeso nȏl a dwi’n gobeithio bod pawb wedi cael haf pleserus. I do hope this letter finds you well, and that you had an enjoyable summer break with your families. We have now completed the first few weeks of the new school term and I thought this would be an ideal time to inform you about how well our learners have returned and update you on some of the latest news and important developments here at Prestatyn High.
The pupils and students have started the new term in an exceptionally focused and responsible way. I would like to praise all parents and carers for sending our young people back to school ready to learn, ready to engage, and in such a positive frame of mind. Pupils look smart in full uniform, and they have a desire to be successful. The staff are giving 100% to match our motivated learners so that we are even more successful this year than ever before. We are also committed to ensuring that pupils get the most out of school, that they enjoy school, and that they develop into the amazing adults our community deserves. It is only with the full support of conscientious and determined parents that we can make sure we achieve all of our goals.
Full attendance to school is essential, and I want to impress to all parents and carers that making sure your children are in school is key to their current and future success. If you have any queries about attendance, please contact your son or daughter’s Head of Year. Please ensure that all pupils are in school every day unless it is absolutely necessary to keep them away for serious illness or similar unavoidable reasons.
The results once again the summer were excellent and our outgoing Year 11s and 13s did very well in their GCSEs and A-levels. The majority of our Year 11s either stayed with us into 6th form or went on to the next stage of their educational journey of choice. Year 13 were also able to access their chosen universities or go onto meaningful employment, education or apprenticeship. I look forward to what our current exam classes can achieve, as we have very high expectations for the class of 2025!
We have once again ensured that the school site and buildings are continuously improved, renovated and upgraded so that all learners get the best educational experience possible. This year, the work on the school has been extensive and transformational. These works are either finished or in the last stages of completion. These works include:
-
lifts installed and now in service to all necessary 1st floor areas to improve accessibility around the school;
-
a new covered walkway to ease congestion on the corridors is in full use;
-
the complete refurbishment of the Humanities block including new furniture and facilities; and
-
the complete transformation and upgrade of the leisure/PE facilities including a new climbing wall and Prama studio. These exciting new facilities will be completed and handed over soon. Once in use, Prestatyn High pupils will be the first in the country to have access to such amazing activities.
Once again, the school would like to thank Denbighshire local authority for investing in the school and in the futures of our young people. Our mission to deliver a first-class education to all of our learners grows stronger every year. Whilst continuously petitioning for a totally new school building, I am happy that the existing building is in great shape.
We are also able to announce that all the amazing extra-curricular clubs are now up and running. Please see the latest enrichment letter and timetable for further information. There is, as always, a full calendar of events alongside trips abroad and in the UK to keep our pupils motivated and learning outside of the classroom. I am particularly looking forward to hearing about all of the extensive places our young people venture to. There will be many performing arts events, and our big production for the new year is The Addams Family. Our sporting achievements over the last few years have been excellent and I am sure 2024/25 will be no different.
I look forward to welcoming you to our great school this year.
Yr eiddoch yn gywir / Best wishes,
Neil Foley - B.Sc. MA

GCSE Results 2024
Posted on by websupport@prestatynhigh.co.uk
Prestatyn High School is proud of the academic achievements of its Year 11 pupils. The dedication and hard work of pupils, combined with the unwavering support of teachers and staff, have led to some excellent academic outcomes.
Mr Foley, Headteacher was pleased with the results and said:
“These results are the testament to the hard work and resilience of our amazing pupils. I would also like to acknowledge the tireless efforts and expertise of our teaching staff, whose guidance and encouragement have played a significant role in nurturing the academic potential of our pupils. The collective effort and collaboration between pupils, teachers, and parents have truly contributed to the success of our learners”.
We look forward to building on this success and continuing to provide a supportive and enriching environment for all our learners.
Our Y11 pupils faced unprecedented challenges during their schooling and lost significant curriculum time due the pandemic, however this has not held them back and they have achieved some great results. I have no doubt they will go onto even greater success, with many of them embarking upon A-levels with us in our 6th form. To the class of 2024, we are so proud of you.
Anyone interested in enrolling in the Prestatyn High School Sixth Form is invited to attend the school between 2-4pm on Monday 2nd September 2024.

Prestatyn High School – A level Results Day 2024
Prestatyn Sixth continues to develop high achievers year-on-year with 2024 being a great success. Students at Prestatyn High are celebrating their successes following the publication of the 2024 A-level results. The vast majority of PHS students have achieved their potential and can now continue on to university, with many enrolling onto Russell Group Universities, an apprenticeship or employment. This reflects real dedication, commitment and the support of their teachers, families and friends.
High aspirations and standards are having a marked impact on the great results our 6th formers have achieved. The A-level results for the class of 2024 have seen the overall pass rate remain consistently high.
Sian Reed, Head of Prestatyn High Sixth Form said,
“Our students have been rewarded for their commitment and focus over the past two years. I am proud of what they have achieved and I look forward to hearing of their future successes."
Mr Foley, Headteacher was pleased with the results:
“Once again, our students have performed at the highest level and achieved results that are truly well-deserved. We expect the highest of standards from all students and staff so that all learners achieve their potential. They are a credit to the school, their families but most of all to themselves. They have done the hard work and now can go on and achieve their dreams; we are exceptionally proud of them all."

Parent/Carer letter – Uniform and mobile information for September
Posted on by websupport@prestatynhigh.co.uk
Dear parents and carers,
As this academic year draws to a close, I wanted to send out essential reminders so that our pupils can prepare for their return to school, ready to learn in September. There has been no change to the expectations that we have for our pupils in terms of uniform. We are aware that some parents may need support to buy items of uniform, if this is the case, please contact the school and we will be able to help.
In September we will be asking all pupils to place their mobile phone into a secure designated holder at the start of each lesson. We are not banning mobile devices, but we want all pupils to focus on learning whilst in lessons. It is important that all learners are responsive, respectful and comply with our expectations so that we can get on with what matters most, educating our young people.
Successful education starts with the basics and that means all pupils and parents supporting our expectations. For example, ensuring that the uniform and shoes are correct, that the rules on make-up, nails and piercings and mobile phones are followed. As we prepare for the new academic year, we will insist on all of our learners complying with these expectations. Failure to follow these simple rules will result in sanctions from day one in September.
It is important that our learners are in school each and every day to ensure that they are not missing out on learning time. Pupils must also be on time to school and to their lessons. Next year, we will continue to have a strong focus on attendance to ensure that our learners continue to have the best chances of success by being in school every day.
With this letter is the leaflet with a few key reminders about what we are asking of our learners and families. We hope that our students have a wonderful and restful break over the summer. Please remember to enjoy your time safely and that all of our learners are being socially responsible citizens in our fantastic community.

Dear Parents / Carers,
I do hope this letter finds you well and that you are looking forward to a nice summer break with your families, a time to rest and relax after a very busy and successful year for all connected to Prestatyn High School.
It has been another positive and rewarding year with so much going on. I am immensely proud of all of our pupils and staff, who have risen to every challenge this year and performed so well. I look forward to the results days in the summer and I am sure our Year 11s and 13s will, once again, achieve outstanding examination results. Staff work tirelessly to ensure that every child reaches their potential and we need to celebrate this effort. I would also like to thank all parents and carers for their support this year, without which we would not be able to achieve the things we do.
The Year 11 end of year celebrations at the ROA and the Prom were an excellent way to send off our pupils in style. The class of 2024 looked amazing and truly showed what a wonderful group of people they are. I wish them all well for the future, whether they come back to us for 6th Form or choose a different next stage of their education.
Our leavers celebration for the outgoing Year 13s was also a great event and it was enjoyed by students and staff alike. This academic year has been filled with trips abroad, enriching activities in school, and also very hard work in lessons. We try at every opportunity to make sure that the learning experience of your child goes far beyond the classroom, whether it is skiing in the Alps or taking part in our production of Matilda. Next year, we have even more things planned to enrich the lives of our learners.
Our attendance increased slightly this year which shows that we are recovering after the pandemic, but I urge all parents and carers to make sure that next year our pupils’ attendance to school improves even further. Pupils must only have a day off school if it is totally unavoidable.
Next year, we will be asking all pupils to place their mobile phone into a secure designated holder at the start of each lesson. We are not banning mobile devices, but we want all pupils to focus on learning whilst in lessons. As I am sure you all agree, educational attainment and progress must be our top priority. This is a simple solution to a difficult issue, allowing us to avoid banning these devices completely, a decision that some schools have taken.
During the hot weather, we have relaxed the uniform rule and suspended the blazer rule. In September, our high standards of uniform will be back in place. We will also expect high standards of PE kit for all PE lessons. Further details and reminders on uniform will be sent out before the end of the year. Uniform grants are also available via Denbighshire County Council.
Staff return after the summer break for 2 INSET days on the 2nd and 3rd of September and the new school year begins for pupils and students on Wednesday 4th September. I look forward to seeing our Years 13, 12 and 11 during the summer holidays as they collect their examination results; more information will be available on our website.
I would like to wish everyone a lovely and relaxing break, and I look forward to welcoming our students back in September in full uniform, refreshed, and ready to achieve.
Yours faithfully,
Neil Foley - B.Sc. MA
