Headteacher Appointment

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am writing to share some important and exciting news regarding the appointment of the new
headteacher of our amazing school. Following a thorough recruitment process, the Governing
Body is pleased to announce the appointment of Claire Turner as our new headteacher, effective
from the start of the next academic year, the first female to hold this post permanently.

Claire, our current deputy headteacher, brings a wealth of experience in education, strong
leadership skills, and a clear vision for continuing to build on the strengths of our school.
Throughout the selection process, she impressed us with her commitment to ensuring that every
child thrives, both academically and personally, within a supportive and ambitious school
community.

Over the coming weeks, Claire will be working closely with Neil Foley the current headteacher, all
staff, governors, and pupils to ensure a smooth transition. There will be opportunities for parents
and carers to meet the new headteacher early in the new academic year. We will share more
details about this later in the year.

We would also like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to Neil Foley for the hard
work, effort and amazing progress the school has made over the last ten years. The school is in a
very good position for the new headteacher to build even greater successes in the future.
We look forward to September and embarking on our next chapter together as a school
community.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs Lindsay Davenport
Chair of Governors
On behalf of the Governing Body

Meningitis and sepsis information

At this time there are no suspected or confirmed cases of meningitis in North Wales or elsewhere in Wales linked to the outbreak in Kent.
However it has been recommended that young people, parents, families and staff familiarise themselves with the signs and symptoms of meningitis and sepsis.
These conditions can progress rapidly from mild symptoms to severe illness. Babies, young children, teenagers and young adults (especially those in close-contact settings like colleges and universities) are at higher risk.

!! – – IMPORTANT SCHOOL TRANSPORT INFORMATION – – !!

B667A Gronant to Prestatyn High School Coach
Due to road closures in and around Gronant, the vehicle will have to make a temporary change to your morning and afternoon stops.
The decision is that ALL STUDENTS are to meet at the junction of Llys Dewi and Nant-y-Gro. Students need to be here by 8.05am and be aware that the vehicle may need to reverse near the junction. This will be temporary for 2 weeks up to 6th March when the expected roadworks are completed.

A LETTER FROM THE HEADTEACHER

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break and a happy New Year.

I am writing to inform you of my intention to leave Prestatyn High School at the end of this academic year. This has not been an easy decision to make. After ten years of success as Headteacher, I will be moving on to a new opportunity in education in England.

It has been an honour and a privilege to lead this great school. I have cherished every moment of working with our students, staff, families, and wider community as we have continued our journey of improvement. Prestatyn High is an outstanding school, and I am incredibly proud of everything we have achieved together.

I am confident that the governors and the local authority will ensure a robust and thorough process to appoint the next Headteacher, and that the very best person will be chosen to lead the school into its next chapter.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,

Neil Foley - B.Sc. MA
Pennaeth/Headteacher

End of Term Letter

Annwyl Rhieni / Gwarcheidwiaid / Dear Parents / Carers,

Thank you for the ongoing support you have given the school this term. We have had a busy and successful term and continue to be exceptionally proud of all learners and staff in our fantastic school community. We also had a visit from Estyn in November that was once again very successful, reinforcing that what we do every day is the best we can for our pupils. As a reward for everyone’s hard work, I am pleased to announce the school will be closing early at 12.20pm on Friday 19th December. This will allow pupils and their families a little extra time together to prepare for Christmas.

I am keen to stress that I do not expect to see a dip in attendance just because it is a shortened day. Pupils are expected to attend school and lessons as normal. The school has made all the necessary arrangements for school buses/taxis to be at school early to transport pupils home. In the spirit of giving, we are also proud to announce our support for the local foodbank this Christmas, as well as St.Kentigern Hospice. We kindly ask that pupils consider donating £1 or bring in a non-perishable food item. All contributions will be collected and donated to help those in our community who are in need during this festive season. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated and will make a difference to the lives of many.

The school re-opens for students on Tuesday 6th January; Monday 5th January is a staff training day. I understand that many of you may currently be facing much bigger challenges than education, which is why we will look to provide wider support to you and your family wherever possible. If you do require additional support, please do not hesitate in contacting the school.

I wish nothing more than for you to have a restful and enjoyable Christmas with your loved ones.

Yr eiddoch yn gywir / Best wishes,

Yours faithfully,

Neil Foley - B.Sc. MA
