Applications

Official school category is: Co-educational, day-only, community, Secondary School.

Admissions to the school are handled by Denbighshire County Council. To apply for a place, please visit their website at: School admissions | Denbighshire County Council. Applications received by the published date (31/10/26) up to the admission number are usually successful regardless of where the applicant lives or goes to school. This year (2026-27) we admitted 286 to Year 7 which is below the maximum admission number of 300. If relevant, oversubscription criteria apply in the following rank order.

 

1. Pupils for whom there are exceptional social reasons (e.g. looked after children), which in the opinion of the Corporate Director for Lifelong Learning, justify admission to the school.

2. Pupils for whom there are exceptional medical or educational reasons, which in the opinion of the Corporate Director of Lifelong Learning justify admission to the school.

3. Pupils who are residents within the intended geographical area (or designated catchment area, where defined) that the school is intended to serve.

4. Pupils for whom it is the nearest school suitable for their age, parental language preference (designated Welsh Medium Schools) or parental denominational preference (controlled schools) as measured by walking distance from the nearest available school gate to the pupil’s home.

5. Siblings of pupils already admitted under point 2, 3, 4.

6. Pupils living nearest to the school, measured by the shortest walking distance from the nearest available school gate to the pupil’s home. Prospective parents/carers may wish to view the school, in which case they should contact the school office to make an appropriate appointment primary, middle or secondary school comprehensive, grammar or partially selective school co-educational or single-sex school day, boarding or both the language of the school as shown in their PLASC category any affiliation of the school with a particular religion or religious denomination details of the admissions policy for pupils of different ages, including those above or below compulsory school age (not applicable for special schools) and special arrangements for the admission of, and to enable access for, pupils with disabilities secondary schools (but not special schools) must also include details of the number of places for each relevant age group which were available at the start of the preceding year, the number of written applications or preferences expressed for such places, the number of appeals made and the number of them that were successful.
