Prest6tyn 6th Welcome and Taster Morning
July 2 @ 9:00 am - 11:30 am
The Prest6tyn 6th Welcome and Taster Morning
I am delighted to invite your son/daughter to the school Tuesday 02nd July, 9.00 to 11.30.
A great many students have already chosen to study with us next year and this taster event will give you the chance to see how the lessons are taught at advanced level and for those who are still unsure, it will allow learners to think again about who they want supporting them on the next stage of their journey.
As a school we are extremely proud that 68% of our students gained at least a ‘C’ in their A levels and 91% achieved at least a Merit in all BTEC courses, with 71% gaining a Distinction or Distinction *. The current Yr13 also achieved the best Yr12 results ever at PHS, putting them in the top 25% of all AS learners in 2018. Not only do we have one of the largest Sixth Forms in Wales, we also have one of the lowest NEET figures (not in education employment or training) of 0% for the last three years. Every 6th former who studied with us, successfully went onto the next stage of their education or career. I am also pleased to be able to say that nearly 90 students took up their place at university in the summer including Cambridge University. This is the second year in a row we have had students attending such prestigious institutions.
It is crucial that students make informed choices in September. The morning will give your son/daughter a flavour of what 6th form life is like and will allow them to meet representatives from all subjects again. They will also meet student ambassadors and the student leadership team, in the classes they will be taught in. I will give a presentation in the hall at 9am about life as an advanced level student, then they will get the chance to visit up to four subject areas.
I look forward to seeing your son/daughter and wish them every success in their examinations.
